DELUXE HONEYMOON/ANNIVERSARY PACKAGE REVIEW

This package is offered by Princess and is on Page 52 of their Cruise Answer Book. Let me take the items in order:

(Latest news - we got a response back from Princess. It appears that much of the problem was due to the newness and the size of the Pacific Princess. They have apologized and compensated us adequately for the problems.)

One bottle of Mumms Cordon Rouge champagne in your stateroom accompanied by two long stemmed roses. This was fine.

Two Princess engraved souvenir champagne glasses. We went to the purser's desk twice to ask about them and finally got them on the last day.

A framed portrait - ok. You get your pick of frames. However, they had boxed it all up and sealed it for packing so well that we didn't bother opening it until we got home and found a big chip in the frame. It couldn't have happened en route because of the careful packing.

Chocolate dipped strawberries delivered to your stateroom the first evening on board. On the second day I asked the steward why we hadn't received these. He brought them that evening.

A personalized anniversary or honeymoon card from the Captain - a commemorative keepsake. This was received but not exactly what we expected.

Champagne breakfast in bed - a half bottle of French champagne delivered with breakfast in you stateroom the morning of your choice. This would have been fine except all they provide for room service is cold items. I don't consider this a decent breakfast. We had them deliver the champagne and went down to the dining room for breakfast.

Two Princess terry cloth robes - a gift for you to take home. These are not terry cloth robes. They are a lightweight polyester and cotton blend. If you want the real 100% cotton terry cloth you have to pay an extra $45 per robe.

A visit to the Spa - one 30 minute theraputic massage or facial per person. This was fine, no problems here.

Choice of canapes or petit fours in your stateroom every evening. I told our cabin steward on the first day that I wanted canapes as I didn't want the sweets. The first night we got nothing, the second night was the strawberries, the third night was cookies, the fourth night was chocolates. I finally called Room Service to complain. I said we had requested canapes. He said that we DIDN'T have a choice, and that we got whatever the chef felt like that day. We did get some canapes on subsequent days, mostly cold. But the one day we got hot canapes was the day we were in port until 8:00 p.m. Since these are delivered between 4 and 5 every evening, they were cold by the time we got back to our cabin. You would think they would take that into consideration and only make hot canapes when we're at sea.

A personalized invitation to the bridge. This was fine, no problems.

It was a wonderful gesture from my husband and Princess spoiled it. It just seemed like such a hassle to get some of the things. He also ordered two flower arrangements, one for embarkation and the other to be delivered in Ketchikan, so I'd always have fresh flowers. They delivered both on the first day and they were dead by Ketchikan. Princess really needs to get their act together!

He's writing to Princess about this so I'll post more here if we get any resolution from them.
